2017 Best of Colorado Engagements

January is often the best month for reflecting.  Something about a clean slate and a new year to get you looking back on your past work.  Where did I find success the most? What did I struggle with…etc.  .  But its a good thing to challenge yourself to dig in deeper.  I have to say that looking back through my 2017 Colorado Engagement sessions and I have a huge smile on my face.  SO many awesome and fun couples that I got to spend time with and get to know.  Many of them either had their wedding last year or I will be photographing their wedding this year.  And I simply can not wait!

For those of you that are on the fence about whether or not an engagement session is something you want to add on to your list of things to plan…let me just say I think they are a fun way of getting to know your photographer.  Having your photos taken at any point in life…if you are anything like me…feels awkward.  Haha.  Or the thought of it does I should say.  A good photographer will help you forget that unease and try to bring out natural emotion.   Another reason I love engagement sessions, you get to explore some really cool places in Colorado.  I’m often suggesting places but many of my clients have found some really epic places to photograph for their engagement session.  Your engagement session lets you kick back a little from your fast pace planning and show the world just how much you love your fiance…and if you are like me…show how much you love Colorado.  I try to include a lot of pull backs that take in the scene and not just all the super up close images.  Why live in a gorgeous state and not showcase it.  🙂

As far as tips on engagement sessions…I think two outfits is the max you would want on a shoot.   I’ve done 3 and that is okay and fun but two lets you really get into the emotions of your shoot.  Spending less time changing and more time soaking up that Colorado Sunset with your love and me photographing it…win win.  Another thing I’ve learned over the years…the first few shots are really just testers.  For everyone.  I’m getting to know you guys and you are trying to get into the groove of having your photos taken.  So I often just know those first few shots might not make the final cut.  And another thing…trust me.  Trust that I don’t want you to look silly.  Or trust that I will see random stray hairs or weird clothing shifts.  I want you to LOVE your shoot so that will be my focus every time.  Not only in experience but in the final result.  What might feel weird during a shoot will turn out to be one of your favorite shots.

Thank you to all my sweet couples of 2017 for trusting me with your beautiful Colorado Engagement Photos!  Follow me on facebook

This next one is not an engagement but a first year anniversary…and I was SO in love with the gorgeous flowers and styling of this!  I felt it should go here.  <3 Love what you see?  Have more questions?  Shoot me an email and lets start scheduling your epic engagement session!  This is a shot of me that my client took after their session.    Haha…I put my clients to work on the regular.  What an epic year!  I simply can not wait for 2018 and all the new amazing people I get to meet and gorgeous places I get to explore!  Happy New Year!
