Grand Lake Colorado Wedding | Rory and Alex
Ahhh, what an incredible day and wedding to have photographed! I had never been to Grand Lake and let me tell you its absolutely gorgeous! Chelsea and I had gotten there a little early to scout around and we had time to grab a quick bite to eat in town. THE cutest small town mountain vibes. Rory’s Dad owns a house right on the lake. And I could tell from all the photos on the wall that boating life is a big part of their summers. The community is close knit and I loved that Rory and Alex got married at the yacht club.
So many sweet details for Rory and Alex but I need to mention how special her veil is. Its been in several generations of brides in Rory’s family. She had a photo of one of her past family had worn it first. Absolutely gorgeous and so amazing that Rory was able to wear it for a few photos as well.
Rory and Alex shared a private first look over at her family home. I had photographed Alex and Rory’s engagement session and one thing I loved about these two is how fully they embraced moments that they shared. The emotion so apparent and beautiful. So when Alex turned around and saw Rory…she literally took his breath away. And I remember that same happiness he showed her in their engagement. I loved that these two have such a fun friendship too. They dance…and let me tell you, their first dance was FUN and so well done. But they also share such an easy connection. It was obvious to me just how much Rory and Alex compliment the other.
After that beautiful first look we took a boat ride…YES a boat ride to the Yacht club. I have to say I have a really cool job and in that moment I felt the crazy wind on my face and watched Rory and Alex toast with the beautiful mountains behind them and I was thankful. As we arrived all their wedding party was there waiting and cheering these two on. What an entrance to make. I’m also SO happy we we took photos before hand as this wild wind swept in and we needed to move the ceremony indoors. Having options is so important when you are having a Colorado mountain wedding. That weather loves to sneak up on you. Their ceremony and reception were held in the upper level of the Yacht club and I loved all the gorgeous big windows, the photos of all the members of the club from years before graced the walls, and charming nautical features through out.
I adored their beautiful reception. We were able to have that outside underneath market lights and beautiful greenery and flowers. It felt like a garden wedding with all the gorgeous bright flowers in small vases scattered through out each table. I also loved that each table had wine to share. The whole event was wrapped around celebrated Rory and Alex but also visiting with friends and family coming in from all over.
This gorgeous Grand Lake Colorado Wedding seriously had so many sweet moments and I can’t wait to share some of my favorites from their wedding. Rory and Alex, I loved working with you from start to finish. You welcomed me and Chelsea in and made us feel so special! Thank you for trusting me with your incredible wedding! Absolutely honored to have been there and will forever be a fun memory for me on that boat ride.
