Great Sand Dunes Colorado | Denver Wedding Photographer | Aaron and Devin

Great Sand Dunes National Park

First of all…its a long drive to the Sand Dunes.  But I will say its absolutely a stunning road trip.  Devin, Aaron, my hubs and I packed up our bags and headed out to explore a beautiful piece of Colorado.  I can’t say it enough…we live in an amazing state.  I wasn’t sure what to expect…and I planned on it being super windy and needing to protect my gear at all costs.  I may have gone overboard but not one lens was damaged or camera body either.  PHEW…Haha…I had asked for some advise a head of time and the horror stories might have kept me up at night headed into wedding season.

We pull up in the parking lot and see these tiny little dots on the dunes…OMG they were people….WAY WAY WAY WAY out in the distance lol.  We were in for an awesome hike up those sand dunes.  Not only that but the wind picks up later in the day.  We decided to hike away from the crowds and happy sand surfers…oh yes, I so wish I bought a sand sled to try this.  Another visit for sure.  We found a gorgeous private spot on the dunes that also blocked the wind and had views of the mountains for miles.  Gosh…this place took my breath away.

I have to say that getting to spend extra time with Aaron and Devin before their wedding in September was amazing.  They are friends of ours from our crossfit gym and Devin is our Yoga instructor as well on Saturdays (you should TOTALLY come try out our gym sometime…shameless plug for Crossfit Endemic in Fountain Colorado )  Aaron and Jon would be laughing at something…probably inappropriate …lets be honest and it just felt so natural.  I keep trying to talk the hubs into becoming my 2nd.  But for now he’s an amazing assistant. 😉  I adored the way Devin and Aaron laughed and loved on each other.  Their personalities compliment each other so well and its clear to anyone around them how much they care about each other.  And lets just say they are crazy photogenic.  Add in the incredible hills and valleys of the sand dunes…this was an absolute bucket list shoot for me!

I’d love to have you check out a few of my favorites from Devin and Aaron’s Great Sand Dunes National Park Engagement Session!

I actually really love the drama that the wind adds to these images! You did such a stellar job. I honestly cannot believe your lenses and camera came out unscathed. I destroyed some gear shooting there.

  9. Oh my gosh- these sand dune pictures are amazing! Our cousin has some sand dune toys and we are planning a trip to see him in Arizona to drive them. Maybe we can get some shots almost as pretty as yours.
